This quarter, we feature Commander Dorothy Todd of the 3rd District Police Department. St. Clair-Superior is home to the largest police district in Cleveland.
As the leader of the 3rd District, she oversees all facets of the daily operations of the unit including management of the staff and supervisory personnel, work allocation, training, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance, along with the occasional flee to a crime scene to assist her officers in need.
To keep her officers and our community safe, Commander Todd teaches her officers to be fair, consistent and to handle each call with professionalism because, “you never know who you will meet and whose life you’ll impact.”
Confident in her beliefs about policing, she speaks openly and freely about her role as Commander and loves police work so much that she’d even be content working in a zone car.
