One of the community celebrations that took place this past winter was the celebration of Kwanzaa.
On December 27th, 2019 The Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers, The National Association of Black Social Workers, The City of Cleveland Community Relations Board and Councilman Basheer Jones co-sponsored the first ever Kwanzaa celebration held in the Rotunda of Cleveland City Hall.
This celebration was the first of its kind making this a historic moment for all. The celebration included the March of Griots processional, the Kwanzaa Candle Ceremony, children’s crafts and a word from Councilman Jones explaining the principal of the day, KUJICHAGULIA, meaning self determination.
On Sunday December 29th, 2019 Rev. D. Anthony Everett, along with Mittie Imani Jordan and Paul Hill of the Greater Cleveland Kwanzaa Alliance, sponsored a Kwanzaa celebration held at the United Methodist Church located at 1919 E. 107th St. Cleveland, OH 44106.
