In the pursuit of our mission, to help lift every voice, The Ward 7 Observer and News 5 is proud to announce a workshop geared towards training residents to become storytellers.
This workshop will be facilitated by Helen Maynard, an Assignment Editor with News 5.
The seven-week workshop kicks off Wednesday, July 29, 2020, with a mandatory three-hour orientation on Monday, July 27.
You must commit to attending the orientation and all seven, two-hour sessions. Meetings will be held via Zoom.
Final projects can be in written, photo, video or audio format, and will be available for The Ward 7 Observer, News 5, and their partners.
Story tellers will receive a $250.00 stipend for completing all of the sessions and for turning in their final project.
Our goal is to support and lift community voices. We are looking for people with a strong interest in the life and health of their neighborhood.
There are 3 requirements that participants must fulfill.
- You must be a Cleveland resident.
- You must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the project.
- You must attend all of the sessions. There are no requirements for prior experience.
We encourage those with smartphones and/or a laptop to apply, however it is not required. This project will support your research, preparation, and the presentation of your final work.
Once accepted in the project you will receive training on understanding the difference between real news and fake news, how to research and document information, best practices for writing, and multimedia.
Completion of this program does not guarantee future employment. Our goal for this workshop is to help those residing in Cleveland to become better equipped at expressing their life experiences.
If you have trouble accessing the application via the Google form, contact Devon Jones at (216)-361-0042 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org for direct assistance.
